Realization Of The Dynamic Source Routing Protocol (DSR) On The Linux Platform

With the rapid and extensive development of wireless communication and internet, it has been substantially essential to acquire information and communicate with other people at anytime, anywhere and for anybody. The ability to be set up quickly and operate without wired infrastructure makes Ad Hoc network a promising candidate for next generation wireless networks. Research on Ad Hoc from various aspects is now a hot spot in literature.In this thesis, first of all, we described the basic concepts, architecture and features of the Ad Hoc network. Routing in an Ad Hoc network is a difficult problem and has received a lot of attention. Many routing protocol have been proposed and studied. However most of these studies have been simulation based, with few real implementations. Validating various Ad Hoc algorithms in real systems is necessary for their proliferation in the real world, so we implemented such a platform based on the Linux operating system under the support by the project"Wireless Mobile Ad Hoc Network Routing Protocol Research". Finally we tested the DSR modules and further analyzed its performances. The result indicates that the software realizes the functions which the DSR draft requested.
