The Application Of RTLinux In The Flight Simulator Control System

Flight simulator plays an important role in hardware-in-loop simulation, and a high-quality simulator is critical in developing a high-performance aircraft.Incorporated with the real time control software in the flight simulator, a real time operation system named RTLinux as the platform of developing the control software of the simulator was studied and developed mainly in this paper after analyzing the requirement of the software and presenting the status of the control software of the table.As a extension of Linux, RTLinux is a hard real-time operation system, and it can also employing Linux. Then, the source code of RTLinux was roundly read. The framework and mechanism of RTLinux were summarized. Additionally the WH25B three axes electric flight simulator was designed. The composition and global design of WH25B were presented and the base need of the control system was also introduced. Then the control software of the upper computer based on the platform of Windows and the control computer based on the platform of RTLinux was presented after the structure of the table was analyzed. This control software of the control computer of the table includes a kernel module that is used to realize the control arithmetic and real time control and a graphic user interface programmed by GTK+. Finally, the comparisons of the control program was given in the area of user interface, real time ability, ported ability and embedded ability under DOS,Windows and RTLinux. The advantages of RTLinux as a platform of developing the control software were shown.
