| Security is an important aspect for many sensor networks applications. A particularly harmful attack against sensor and ad-hoc networks is known as the Sybil attack, where a node illegitimately claims multiple identities. Digital watermarking is a technology of embedding identifying information in a digital media, in such a way that it cannot easily be removed. In this paper we point out and describe robust watermarks technique based on Digital Watermarking Technology to defend against the Sybil attack threat. We also describe digital watermarking technique robustness in defending against potential Sybil Attack threat in wireless sensor networks. The major contribution of this thesis is to furthering of the understanding of the security issues in wireless sensor networks and to devise completely new algorithms that can be used to defending against the Sybil attack in wireless sensor networks, so as to maintain efficiency, effectiveness and its intended functionality. We theoretically propose digital watermarking technology basing on robust watermarks and fragile watermarks for defending against the Sybil attack in wireless sensor networks. We analyses the information coding techniques and finally we propose the pseudo-random sequence generation technique based on both spread spectrum watermarking information coding technique and Lehmer's algorithm to be used to generate the watermarks keys that are to be embedded in the data to allow or authenticate the physical node. Through out analysis, we show that robust watermarks technique if applied help to minimize the Sybil attack threat in wireless sensor networks. |
