| Virtual Reality has been used in almost every field of modern technology. In mechanical industry,its application makes the field of mechanical product design more vigorous than before. The purpose of this paper is to further extend the VR application in mechanical industry by making some research on the theory of stereoscopic display and interaction as well as Virtual Design and Assembly Navigation.After expounding VR concept and its characters, the necessity and rationality of VR existence and its application in CAD/CAM, several other aspects are studied: first, the three kinds of stereoscopic display theory are set forth and the research is focused on the theory which is based on parallax and discussed from the aspects such as the physical basis of the third dimension production, the influencing factors of third dimension, the theory and arithmetic of drawing stereoscopic figures etc; second, the difference among VR ,other interaction methods and VR's status are studied from the perspective of Human Computer Interaction development, the cognitive psychology model of VR interaction is analyzed and a classification study on VR is done according to different operation missions and metaphors; third, the concept of virtual design is given out based on the research on its other concepts, then the difference among VR ,CAD and the realization of virtual design are studied.After that, on the basis of VC6.0+ACIS7.0 and theories described in the above theoretical research, a VR platform—ACISVR is developed. The platform is divided into three modules such as display, virtual design and assembly navigation, which is designed to support the stereoscopic display and real display of three-dimensional CAD models and the real-time visualization process changes, to compensate for the limitations that other VR softwares can not create the model accurately and such model can not be amended at any moment and some research is done on assembly navigation guiding three-dimensional assembly by using three-dimensional technics. It's a useful exploration for the development of VR platform with the function of virtual design and virtual assembly navigation. |
