Omnidirectional vision is a new computer vision technology, which can acquire 360-degree horizontal view based on convex mirror. With the property of large field of view, omnidirectional vision system is quite suitable for particular applications. Omnidirectional images generated from omnidirection vision system have problem of serious distortion because of the unique imaging processes of omnidirectional system, so the information of the scene taken by the omnidirectional vision needs to be recovered when applying the system to practices.Firstly, the technology of omnidirectional vision is introduced, and the background of the research is described, including the theory and the applications. By analyzing the geometry of the hyperbolic convex omnidirectional vision, the imaging process of omnidirectional images is described in detail, as well as the method of unwrapping the images into panorama and perspective view. Special research is done to solve the problem of pixel repetition and loss, when recovering the ominidirectional images into panorama and perspective view.
