Research On Service Discovery Technology In Ubiquitous Computing

The problem of Service Discovery is one of the important questions of discussion to research in the area of Ubiquitous Computing. In this paper, I lay a strong emphasis on the pervasive computing technology, several typical service discovery protocols, Java RMI technology and XML technology, etc. Because of the deficiencies of the known service discovery protocols, I bring forward a new Context Based Service Discovery System (CBSDS). I also start the work of designing and realizing the CBSDS.There are mainly several aspects in this paper:1. The basic of Ubiquitous Computing Technology. Some sides of pervasive computing have been discussed, including conception, characteristic and actualities, and the Context Based Service Discovery Technology of Ubiquitous Computing has been anatomized. I point out the main problems of today's Ubiquitous Computing, and find that the existed service discovery technologies can't meet the needs of Ubiquitous Computing Environment. So it is emphases for this paper. A great attention has been paid to several typical service discovery protocols, and I expatiated some sides of them, such as System Architecture, Discovery Mechanism, and Application Protocols. I compare and analyze the different aspects of those protocols, evaluate their advantage and disadvantage. As a whole, I detect that the Service Discovery Protocols which we have known don't fit for the Context Based Service Discovery and the service discovery of world wide. Those protocols are also lack of perfect security mechanism. The research of the existed service discovery protocols establishes the foundation of designing and realizing CBSDS. CBSDS has several characteristics, including fitting for context based service discovery, realizing complex service matching, adapting to service discovery of world wide, possessing QOS guarantee and platform independent.2. The design of CBSDS. In the CBSDS, the Java RMI is the foundation of distributed computing, and the Interfaces of Java are the form of service. The mechanism is fit for the service discovery of world wide and the context based service discovery. I bring forward a new concept which is the description of the attributes of service. The attributes of service should be described as hierarchy. In the designing of CBSDS, there have some resolutions which are about the computable methods, the service discovery of world wide, and the matching of keywords in the service discovery protocols which we have known.
