Based on JAVA, Virtual Reality & multi-media technics, and inherent characters of metal creep experiment's temperature higher and periods longer, the system of virtual metal creep experiment, which is the core of the system and one of the abnormal metal mechanical experiments, is designed and developed on J2SE platform by using JBuilder,JAVA 3D,VRML,X3D,Xj3D,3DS MAX & Pro/Engineer as main tools. VMCES (Virtual Metal Creep Experimental System), which main characters are vivid virtual scenes, dynamically assembled, real-timely saved, appropriate human-computer interactivity, easy handling and extended and so on, has the following functions. It can be a speedy and effective assistant tool for students and engineers to study and apply creep experiments, used to forecast the creep traits of new material in order to reduce the blindness during the real experiment and compared with the later experiment results. Especially, with the improving of VMCES's function, it will be deeply and widely used in the field of scientific research.VMCES comprises the virtual simulation of macro-process & micro- mechanism and data processing. Three-layer C/S framework system comprises of client layer which includes 3D virtual scene and GUI client interface, application layer developed by JBuilder, and background database server using SQL Server. This project first embeded the virtual scene into GUI interface in material test system, that users can roam in 3D scene real-timely was realized by making JAVA action perform and user interaction synchronized, and further, all kinds of creep experiments can be achieved by which relevant sensor events simulate the operation of metal creep experiment instruments and tools. In micro-mechanism module, a lot of micro creep physical process which is abstract and hard to understood was represented. And in data processing module, the based work of data analyse and creep curves drawing, and the advanced work of creep limit and extrapolate results resolving can be achieved under many kinds of test condition. In present, with adopting the popular MVC structure has made the whole system having a well expansibility and duplication, and the key technics have been solved such as the realization of JAVA & VRML scene interaction, 3D virtual scenes dynamically combining, 3D graphic scene interface of JAVA.
