Wireless LAN is combination of wireless communication and Internet and it transmits data in open channel. It is a difference between WLAN and LAN. Since the transmission, technology of WLAN physical layer decides the transmission rate of data and which modulation is adopted is a core problem of WLAN standard. Currently several WLAN standard adopt OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) as physical layer transmission technology. OFDM is a kind of multicarrier modulation and it is not traditional multicarrier modulation. The subcarriers of OFDM can lap mutually and they are all interorthogonal.Multimedia service is growth in internet service recent years but OFDM can not provides enough bandwidth for WLAN. So providing data rate of WLAN becomes hot topic. The dissertation puts forward OWSS and OWSS as a improvement for OFDM. OWSS inherits the advantage of OFDM and abandons the shortage of OFDM. This dissertation has done the work of three results mainly.Firstly, the dissertation studies and analyses the basic concept, correlative techniques and theories of OFDM. The part of OWSS importantly studies wavelet interorthogonality and producing method of wavelet pulse. The dissertation also studies the PHY specification of WLAN.Secondly, this dissertation studies the producing process of OWSS which is produced by OFDM and wavelet pulse. When wavelet function replaces sine function as subcarriers of OFDM, this improvement of OFDM is OWSS.Finally, imitating the true system experiments with OWSS and OFDM, contrast the experiment data. The result of contrast analysis confirm that the OWSS of the rate of transmission data is better than OFDM.
