The detection, recognition and tracking algorithms of small target in infrared image are key technologies to extend the acceptance distance of guidance system and enhance the capacity of defense system. This thesis researches the detection algorithm of small target under sky background and sea-sky background.Based on the analysis of real infrared images' features, the auther shows the model of infrared image. Moreover, the thesis compares detection results of medianfilter and self-adaptive filter algorithm. In chapter 4, the thesis discusses the Mathematical Morphology' principles and basis operations, and shows the detection algorithm of small target based on the Mathematical Morphology operations. This chapter emphasizes contents on the analysis of the algorithm in theory and thoroughly dissertate its theory and structure. Finally it shows with the simulation experiment results that the presented algorithm has a lot of good qualities, which are excellent performance, simple operation. The algorithm increase the small target detection ability of one frame image and make condition for after sequence images' detection and tracking.At last, the author summarizes achievements in the thesis and points out the future work.
