The Design And Realization Of College Board Management Decision Information System

Decision Support System (DDS) represents one of the latest reflections of research on information system and it has become a key research agenda in system engineering and computer applications. As an integral technological system, it consists of a series of branch subjects such as Computer Technology, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Management Science and Psychology, etc.Having gathered rich practical experiences in routine management activities of College Board, the author has designed and developed the College Board Management Decision Information System (CBMDIS), featuring for its main works the following three respects:(i) To eliminate redundancy of system performance and make each module of system run independently, we simplified traditional four base structures (Data Base, Knowledge Base, Model Base and Approaches Base) of DSS into three base structures (Data Base, Rule Base and Approaches Base).(ii) To deal with the timeliness, regionalism and complexity of College Board management policy, we proposed the concept of temporal knowledge and its formalization. At last, we proposed the concept of temporal knowledge in CBMDIS.(iii) To improve the efficiency of information collection in the system and make the performances of fact management distinct operations, we used the event technology initiative.The College Board Management Decision Information System thus designed and implemented for the above-mentioned activities has already been running well in practice.
