Shot Detection Based On Information Entropy And Motion Information

When the digital information age is coming, people are very convenient to access a large number of video data. The efficient of retrieval becomes a big problem. In the research, the Content Based Video Retrieval(CBVR) has being popularly used. In this way, the first step is to segment the video series into shot and scenes which named shot detection in the CBVR. The task of shot detection is divided the video into basic shots according to the time and space.Camera lens can be classified the shot as two categories: cut change and gradually change. In cut change, two shots are directly linked. Between the two shots, there are not with specific dispose. While gradually changes, there are many shots with edited methods. Gradually changes can be broken down into fade, dissolve, spin and wipe etc. In generally, the detection of gradual change borders is more difficult than the detection of cut borders. This is the key point in shot detection.There are many shot detecting algorithms are proposed. All presented algorithms can be used to get satisfactory result on cut shot detection besides on gradually shot change detection. But the gradually shot change always contains profound information.Information theory consists of the probability theory and statistical methods, information entropy, communication systems, data transmission, cryptography, data compression, and other issues of applied mathematics subjects. Shot changes in essence are information changes. Researchers have also used information theory to find the shot change. Those algorithms with information theory based are more intuitionistic, efficaciously and get rather well performance in practice. But it didn't fit for in gradually shot boundary detection especially in dissolve shot detection. So we conducted our studying in this area. A shot detection algorithm which been combined with information theory and motion estimation has been proposed in the paper.The research results in this paper are shown in follows:1.The shot detection algorithm based on theory has been constructed in details. And also the program of detecting gradually shot boundary has been designed. There are many improves have been used to solve the problem.2.The function motion estimation has been analysed in camera lens detection. The result shows the advantage and disadvantage.
