VHDL (Very-High-Speed Integrated Circuit Hardware Description Language) is an industry international standard used for describing, modeling or integrating a digital circuit or system. It describes complicated logical function by brief and clear program. It supports both Down-Top design and Top-Down design. It supports mode-design besides layer-design because of its powerful hard-ware describe function and standard grammar, VHDL was accepted by most factories who made EDA tools and integrated circuits and it popularized. So, a new method in designing circuits took the place of the traditional one satisfied the need of large-scale integrated circuits. This article studied how to design a counter based on VHDL which will be applied in drip-irrigation controller. The followed are the mainly works had been done.1. Sum up the present situation of integrated circuits design (counter included) and the present situation of drip-irrigation from articles and materials declared publicly. Thinking of the characters and requirements of drip-irrigation system, this article presented the train of thought of designing the counter ASIC by using VHDL language and applied it into drip-irrigation system.2. Relatively deeply studied the counter's performances and logical...
