The real-time imaging tracking technology has been extensively applied in various fields, especially in military science fields. The rapidness and precision demands for imaging tracking systems become higher and higher. In order to satisfy the high precision and rapidness requirement of the tracking systems of moving objects, a tracking system based on ADSP-BF533 is implemented. The image is fully processed by using the powerful and high-speed data processing capability of DSP. Moving target is detected through images threshold segmentation in this system, then target is automatically tracked by using centroid tracking algorithm. Based on the ADSP-BF533, an automatic tracking system for moving target is established.The general design solution and the specific hardware and software design work of the system are introduced in the thesis, which DSP is the core. In the design of DSP basic circuit, the memory of system is compartmentalized, and implementation of video image collection is completed in standard DSP hardware. Software algorithms and the management of image frame storage are accomplished by DSP. The serial port communication, DMA technology, PPI port and EBIU involved etc are expatiated simply. The algorithm for video image collection based on DSP is established, codes for image collection are programmed. A target tracking system is established by combining centroid tracking algorithm, Pan and Tilt control algorithm etc, a target tracking system is established. In addition, the collected image is processed simply, and then the processing speed is improved. According to adaptive control theory, a variable-speed control algorithm is adopted, and then automatic tracking accuracy is improved. The test for target tracking system is done, and the results show the system consructed by the previous algorithm and hardware, which can well realize the automatic tracking for the moving target.
