Research And Application On Workflow Engine Supporting Dynamic Modification

Formerly the workflow management system only allowed to edit the process when modelling, but it could not modify again as soon as the process had run. This kind of limit caused them merely to be suitable the reasonable process or the running process consistent with modelling or the process without dynamic extending. However, the real world is so complex that the process of business may exsit some unexpected incidents which restrain the application of the workflow management system. In order to enhance the flexibility of the workflow management system, this thesis proposes the concept of the dynamic workflow.The motivation of studying workflow technique and the related background is elaborated at first. Then the WfMC workflow model and the architecture are introduced. This thesis combines the advantages of the existing open workflow engine models and proposes a novel structure of workflow engine which can support dynamic modification. This framework is able to handle the development change problem during the workflow process model, and serves as an important reference for establishing adaptive workflow management system in enterprises.Moreover, the thesis proposes the dynamic response of process models and process instances. The work flow instance can be transferred by the method of dynamic mode changes when there is any modification on the work flow model. This method compares the corresponding values of the directed graph's adjacency matrix and modifies the values according to the intersection set to rollback and transfer the instance.In the end, the implementation of dynamic workflow model engine is given and the performance of the algorithm is evaluated.
