Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a Multi-CarrierModulation technique with high performance. It has become a hot problem in resentyears because of its good ability against to Inter-Symbol Interference which is acommon phenomenon in mobile transmission environment.Synchronization is a fundamental work to Digital Communications. Since OFDMsystems are more sensitive to synchronization error compared to single-carriercommunication systems, there are more and more attentions paid on it.The principles, schemes and performance of OFDM are illustrated in this thesis.Besides, it also focuses on the effect, which is caused by synchronization error, toperformance of OFDM systems. A novel Integer-Frequency-Offset estimate algorithmbased on position-tag is discussed in details. The new algorithm which adds a PN sequence into information sequence in orderto take in position-tag uses the result of ML time-frequency jointed Estimate. Hence, itmakes the new algorithm have the ability to get Integer-Frequency-Offset estimate.Simulation and mathematical analysis to the algorithm are presented in this thesis andthe result shows that it is good in performance, low in complexity and easy to realize.
