| Vehicle navigation system is an important part in intelligence transportation system(ITS), and navigation computer is the core of vehicle navigation system. The navigation computer has such function as data acquisition from navigation sensor, navigation information handling, map matching, and information displaying. According to the development need of Institute of Navigation, Guidance and Control, a navigation computer is developed, and a test car location system is studied in this paper.Firstly, vehicle location methods are introduced, and some relevant technology about vehicle location system is discussed.Secondly, a navigation computer based on ARM is developed. After detailed hardware design and software design, an ARM7-based computer prototype and an easy JTAG simulator are developed. With the simulator, the computer prototype is debugged.With the developed computer, a car location system is designed, which is made of GPS, digital compass and odometer. Data acquisition experiments are done with a GPS receiver and a digital compass. The results show that the designed computer operates normally and works corporately with relevant navigation unit. The research in this paper can be referred in further research of vehicle navigation computer. |
