Now in the digitized information time, as one of the most outstanding and widely used auto-ID technologies, RFID has already made remarkable strides and found widely applications in overseas, however in China the development and study of RFID is in its start stage. So in order to meet the requirements of fast and accurate in information acquisition and processing in the information society, active RFID system is studied in this thesis from application angle.For the beginning, the development and potential of RFID technology is presented and the market prospect of RFID is forecasted. Then, the constituent parts and the basic theory of RFID system are introduced in detail, with the emphasis on the related fundamentals in the fields of electromagnetics and communications. The main work of this thesis is as follow:Make a deep study of the design of the reader and tag in read-write active RFID system. Descant on the designing ideas and process; using EDA software Candence15.2 to implement the schematics and PCB design; fabricate the real circuit board based on bought elements; systematically analyze the design method of EMC and EMI in radio frequency PCB layout. Based on the hardware structure, the proper communication protocol for the reader and tag is given; related programs are written in Keil C language. Put forward an electrically small antenna design suit for RFID system; the antenna is characterized by small size, low cost; it can be directly printed on PCB and easy to be connected with ASIC chips. By applying the RF chip to the circuit design, the proposed system has the advantages of modularization, easy to expand and small physical space.
