The fast development of wireless network provides people with more convenient services through its access points, without the further disturbance from cable medium. It not only brings to users of portable "unlimited" service but also more to network security threats. So, security once again becomes the top priority of wireless networks. When the users access the wireless net, they may have to move between different areas in need of the services. Roaming protocols works out the problem happened in these cases. They are drafted out to provide users uninterrupted and credible connecting. So they play important roles in the wireless network.Aiming at the security and roaming in the WLAN , the content referred in this paper is summarized below:Describes the strcture of WLAN and the protocol of IEEE 802.11b, 802.11i, 802.1x and WAPI.Introduces the roaming protocol of IAPP and Mobile IP with different roaming cases.Discusses the security threaten of Mobile IP and how to pretend them.Presented the WLAN Integrated Authentication System with its structure and function. At last, a scheme to implement roam in the integrated system is to be recommended.
