Various new communication technologies have made great progress in the past 30 years, and with the development of the 3G mobile communication skills, the satellite communication is playing a more and more important role. Therefore, the research of improving the performance of satellite communication is necessary and urgent.The application of the advanced coding and modulation technologies in satellite communication is discussed in this paper. Considering the feature of the satellite channel, we decided to use Turbo-Coded OFDM to avoid some side effect in the satellite communication. As an effective transferring technology, OFDM is attracting more and more attentions because of its low cost and good performance. Turbo coding is the key technology in 3G mobile communication. The interleaver technology is the most important in this combined system which can support high quality communications.The main tasks of this paper include:1. The research of Turbo coding and decoding theory;2. The analysis of COFDM theory, and set up the Turbo-Coded OFDM simulation platform;3. The research of the influences of the interleaver to the system;4. Simulate 6 kinds of interleavers in the Turbo-Coded OFDM, and analyze their performance in AWGN channel and Rayleigh channel;5. The research of interleaver hardware design.
