This thesis discusses the features of the three typical P2P search algorithms. We analyze the feasibility of applying the P2P search on JXTA, and detailed implementation methods of the hybrid P2P music search and download system on JXTA are proposed. In this thesis, we discuss and research thoroughly on the topic of building a hybrid P2P search model based on the theory of SuperPeers. We introduce the idea of replacing the centralized index structure with the decentralized index structure when building the structure of the model. The model divides the whole P2P network into two layers. The first layer includes some high-performance peers as SuperPeers to build a pure P2P network topology, and the second layer is responsible for create connections between the low-performance peers and their SuperPeer neighbors to join the P2P network. We divides SuperPeers into main SuperPeers and assistant SuperPeers using the two-degree redundancy strategy, by which, possibility of the SuperPeer failure is reduced, and the complexity of the information synchronization among SuperPeers in multi-degree redundancy strategies are avoided. Thus, the reliability of the system can be ensured. Client resource index caching mechanism and the iterative query forward mechanism are adopted in the system design to enhance the search efficiency and success ratio.
