The technique of Frequency Synthesis, which contains of Direct Synthesis, Phase-locked Synthesis and Direct Digital Synthesis is widely used in the area of communication, aeronautics, instrument and so on.Direct digital synthesis (DDS) is a technique for using digital data processing blocks as a means to generate a frequency and phase tunable output signal referenced to a fixed-frequency precision clock source. A DDS system consists of Phase Accumulator, Sine ROM, D/A Converter and Low Pass Filter. As the referenced frequency is fixed, the output frequency, the phase quantization noise and the resolution of frequency and phase are due to frequency word, the value of ROM and the bits of D/A converter, the bits of accumulator and ROM respectively.Today's cost-competitive, high-performance, functionally-integrated, and small package-sized DDS products are fast becoming an alternative to traditional frequency-agile analog synthesizer solutions. For many applications, the DDS solution holds some distinct advantages over the equivalent agile analog frequency synthesizer employing PLL circuitry.The main focuses of this dissertation are: firstly, the arithmetic, structure and the key block of DDS were researched, modeling and simulation were taken on the EDA ; Secondly, using CMOS digital circuit technology to optimize some block of the DDS; Then started coding design of the whole DDS system based on Verilog, and simulation to validate the code; At the end, synthesis and timing analysis were completed in the Quartusâ…¡5.0.
