With the development of computer technology, people are paying more and more attention to security and reliability of operating system.In this dissertation, a project which can recover operating system from crash is introduced. Firstly, system disk and user disk are put forward and endowed with different functions. System disk is used to install operating system and other applications, while user disk is used to save user resources which are of low security requirement. Different security strategies are applied to the disks respectively based on their distinct functions in the project. All resources and operation in system disk will not be saved acquiescently after shutting down or restarting operating system. Conversely, default security strategy of user disk is saving operation in this disk. Moreover, security strategy of both disks can be configured and changed dynamically for convenience and flexibility of operation.A data structure of high efficiency, which is named BMP (Bit Mapping Table), is defined and used to record update and change of data in both disks. Meanwhile, an optimized security algorithm is realized in device driver based on BMP and principle of DMA. Therefore, high performance of OS can be guaranteed.The theory of BIOS is discussed deeply through realization of BIOS interface in the project. Furthermore, security algorithm is realized and the knowledge of device driver is shown. Meanwhile, interface and communication between application and kernel of OS is also described. Moreover, more details about data backup and PCI protocol are presented in this paper.
