Design And Implement Of Web-Based Universities Scientific Research Management System

Construction of management information platform can improve the management of scientific research in universities mostly. So universities research management system has great value in practice. In this article, the current situation of universities research management is introduced and its workflow is analyzed briefly. The problems in management are put forward. So we get the necessity of designing the management system for scientific research in universities (MSRU).Before the system is developed, the author studies and analyses the requirements. As professors in universities, they want to submit their research achievement information through the Internet, apply and close research project, and query the research information of others. As research administrators of departments, they want to get research information of their staff online so they can examine it in time, and know the departments'general status of scientific research. As research administrators of universities, their job is to know the university research condition in all ways so they can make suitable policy and inform all the professors. The system administrator wants to detect and manage the system totally. Based on the understanding of function requirements of all kinds of users, the operation requirements to system can be summarized. The operations include adding, modifying and deleting research information, users'login and managing their personal information, as well as applying intramural projects, reporting and statistic operation and so on.During the design stage of MSRU, the same function of different types of users is combined; the system platform is divided into research website and research management system. Subsequently, the author designs the system logic structure. At the same time, the technology route for implementing MSRU is analyzed. During the process of development, data tables are created in MSSQL2005 database management studio firstly, and then the classes which correspond to fields of data tables and classes used to implement basic operations are added. The interface elements are designedaccording to the users'requirements. In this article, the processes of submitting research information online, examination of research information, query of research information, statistic report forms and users'identity validation are explained in detail. In addition, the ways of designing interfaces are explained briefly. Then the author summarizes the key technology in system development, for example, master page, rdlc report forms, ajax technology and so on. These key technologies are explained in detail and demonstrations are given out.Finally, based on the summarization of MSRU, the insufficiency of the system is pointed out. This shows the clear direction for the system function expansion in the future.
