| Along with the popularization of computer network, people increasingly rely on the network for processing routine work and business. If the network breaks down, big losses will be resulted in. The study and application of network trouble-shooting have an extremely important significance, which can ensure the network running normally, and improve the network system's reliability and availability.In this thesis, the theory of computer network and the commonly used diagnostic tools have been introduced, the types of network problems have been categorized, the basic procedure and general methods of eliminating the problems have been summarized, and the common examples of network trouble have been analyzed.The thesis first introduces the definition, evolution, classification, main functions, level system - OSI reference model and the TCP/IP protocol stack of computer network; and analyzed the data transmission in the computer network. Then it describes the principles and usages of common diagnostic tools which include those commands: Ipconfig, Ping, Tracert, Debug, and the software- SNIFFER, and LAN CableMeter.According to the computer network level system, from the lower layer to upper layer, this thesis separately analyzed the characteristics, functions, troubleshooting and solutions of physical layer, data link layer, network layer, transport layer, application layer.The thesis emphasizes on the twisted pair, the fiber, the RJ-45, HUB, Modem trouble shooting, which belong to the physical layer;the NIC breakdown, the Switch failure, the ARP faults and their removal, which belong to the data link layer; the route Protocol--RIP and OSPF breakdown and their removal, which belong to the network layer; the port mistakes, the Trojan intrusion detection and protection, which belong to the transport layer; the DNS mistake, DHCP failure, firewall problems, computer virus scan and their trouble shooting, which belong to the application layer, and Ethernet trouble shooting. |
