In the electronic rivalry field in recent years, as the precondition of avoiding the detection of the enemies' radar and attack, the stealthy technology plays a more and more important role. With the development of absorbing materials and other technologies, the reduction of RCS (radar cross section) of flight vehicle is no longer a difficult task. Massive experimental results show that antennas on the flight vehicle make a very big RCS contribution in a certain scope of view. Reduction of RCS of antennas has become an essential topic which needs urgent solution in the development of stealthy technology. Based on an analysis of the operation principle and radiation characteristic of horn antennas, the thesis first gives a calculation of the structure mode scattering of the antennas by using the RCS analysis model, and then presents the methods for reducing the RCS of horn antennas. Reductions of RCS of horn antennas by curving the edge of the mouth of the horn and smoothing the throat of the horn are discussed separately. The paper studies the reduction effect of RCS, and analyzes the influence upon the radiation characteristic under different situations as well, which provide theoretical guideline for the stealthy work later.Regarding the requirement of the modern electronic war, the ridged horn antenna is also discussed, with some design methods offered. Finally, the reduction of RCS of ridged horn antennas is realized with the techniques applied to common horn antennas.
