Considering the high price of current commercial visualization software together with self development, this paper develops geophysical data visualization software that lay a foundation for the follow-up functional expansion and performance optimization.This paper firstly describes the working principle and programming technology of OpenGL, based on which MSVC integrated development environment helps build one application framework; Then standard template library is introduced, whose function and efficiency are of the same excellent. This paper focus on the two-dimensional contour drawing and the corresponding three-dimensional model shows: this part mainly consists of girding of discrete data points, identification of grid's edges and points, interpolation on edge, link between points, contour tracking method, and the open and closed contours'contour tracking, and so on.Meanwhile, this paper places counterpart color-texture on the surface of 3D model and get a more visual reality than bump-texture, different from which it generates undulating chiaroscuro effects by the light system.Based on OpenGL and STL, the paper eventually realizes two important components for visualization: mapping and control. Contour maps, image maps, wire frame maps, surface maps and color texture maps (currently not available for Surfer) make up of the mapping part, and translation, zoom and drag and drop make up of the control part.
