Household Smart Terminal Development Based On Linux

In Information Age, the media services acquire all kinds of information and knowledge as well as receiving entertainment programs are largely demanding, which urge the development of media client designs. However, the properties of currently popular media client and their network applicability are not able to meet the requirements of general family users for information inquiry. Considering the solid background of Zhejiang Broadcast Cable Network, the high speed development of related technology and supports from the government, it is applicable to develop the information media client for general family users based on Zhejiang Broadcast Cable Network. This paper has several contributions according to this specific purpose:1. We analyze of several popular media client designs and compare their working network. Particularly we show the advantages of using combination of cable network and internet to develop a new intelligent media client for family users. We also describe a current relatively mature media information service based on cable network in Zhejiang province - country officers training service.2. We conclude the current characters of country information services and the special requirements for country media information. Then we design the standards of functions and technology for this new intelligent media client for family users, which is both economical and easy-to-use. Moreover, the key technical methodology is described in the implementation of this design.3. We propose the pipeline of whole implementation in the Linux System. Particularly, we analyze, improve and transplant the open-source media player -VLC, which makes the media player compatible for the services of living broadcast and ordering programs from windows media server of media server system. Furthermore, the program framework and user-interface are developed for the intelligent client STB (Set On Box) TV output, which provides the users with easy-to-use remote operations.4. Finally, we design a complete testing system for the our sample machine to confirm its functions and qualities satisfied the country users.
