| With the development of the society, more emphasis has been placed on health care and medical service. In order to improve the quality of care, optimizing the clinical practice is becoming an important focus of people in medical community, In some sense medical record is where the rub is. Medical record is a train that carries patients' medical information and plays a significant role all through the clinical process. Nowadays, most medical records are typically paper based. However, this kind of record has a daunting array of problems. There is no general accepted standard for composing medical records, and the paper-based records have storage problem and difficulty in query and statistics. Introducing information techniques and implementing electronic medical record (EMR) is considered a prerequisite for the efficient storage, distribution, and use of patient data in hospitals. The EMR system can unify all sorts of information into one single system, make the most use of the medical records, and boost the R&D in hospital. Meanwhile, EMR system also has the potential use in data mining, information retrieval, and expert system.This paper presents the development process of the Neurosurgery EMR system in Shandong Province Hospital. The process used the tools of Unified Modeling Language (UML) and strictly observed software engineer criterions. The requirement analysis is abstracted from practical work and researches in Shandong Province Hospital, along with the existing standards in medical record writing. Based on the requirement analysis, system use case models are constructed, and the system functions are distributed refer to the models. This EMR system has multi-layered system structure and uses J2EE (Java2 SDK Enterprise Edition). IUs implemented in the MVC design pattern, which separates business process, business logic, and business presentation. In addition, the paper also discusses the network and safety structure of the system. According to the requirement analysis, the system is modeled. Class diagrams are applied for describing static structure, and sequence diagram for dynamic structure. Classes are then abstracted and transferred to relational database pattern, and system's database part is designed from these patterns.In sum, after the introduction of the Neurosurgery EMR System in hospital, studies on impact of EMR have examined the net potential benefits and found that a number of benefits in cost savings and in quality of care have been realized. It provides for a permanent and attributable record of patient care and the process of medical decision making support. The system meets the hospital's business requirements. Most physicians are satisfied with the use of the system, because it transferred accurate data to physicians rapidly. Most importantly, it brings convenience and better treatment to patients. After all, the EMR system generates a significant rise in productivity, as well as increase in quality of care. This system is also a milestone of the construction of information in Shandong Province Hospital. |
