With the development of the information-society, the mobile communication has penetrated each aspect of the life and was widely used as a new service. GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) Network managed by China Mobile is developed in this environment. ITS (Intelligent Transport System), one of the most popular application of GPRS data service is also widely used. ITS has a important sense in traffic area and it is also one of the most important scale of a city. The paper investigates the data transmission technology of the existing vehicle terminal equipment and brings forward a data transmission scheme based on GPRS.The paper firstly analyses several wireless data transmission scheme and compares them in the cost of building a network, the transmission speed, the system capacity and application prospects for the market. Meanwhile, the paper also compares the existing GSM cellular mobile communication technology, GPRS and CDMA technology, and thus using GPRS as the present ITS data transmission network is more reasonable.On the existing experiment conditions, the paper focus on the study of the scheme in-depth and made a careful choice of hardware and finished the design of hardware circuit. Taking the security and the real time nature into account, we do our best to make sure the software optimal. After a hardly debugging and a mass of experiment, this scheme presented by the paper is feasible. Furthermore, it has a high reliability, high transmission rate and a good market prospect.
