This paper introduces the basic principle and acknowledge of CCS7 from MTP1 to UP (like TUP, etc), details the key technologies and design method of the whole SS7 tester developed by ourselves.The SS7 tester takes advantages of many techniques such as multi-CPU controlling and processing, large scale programmble devices, multi-layer PCB routing, SMT devices, etc to carry out synthetical parameters test The key techniques of the instrument are the acquisition of signalling messages data from PCM 2M links, control of the chips for special purpose, design of FPGA, protocol analysis and the programmes of test softwares.The SS7 tester can test signaling messages on end-user lines and between center offices all around. It's test ability is not limited to MTP and TUP, now is extended to ISUP, SCCP and TCAP, even extended to MAP and all kinds of datacom protocols.
