With the dramatic increase in the number of wireless subscribers and the gradual diversification in mobile services provided by operators, the requirements on the quality-of-service (QoS) for multi-service are also in high demand. How to effectively manage and use the limited wireless resources is the key issue in wireless communications. In multi-service wireless network with Point-to-Multi-Point topology, in order to solve the 'last mile access' problem, how to coordinate functional modules in base station's MAC layer for achieving the optimized QoS and to evaluate the system performance is one of the research hotspots in recent years. Based on the existing research, this thesis investigates in details on the optimal QoS mechanisms in MAC layer of multi-service wireless communication network based on deficit fair priority queue and pricing strategy.Aiming at a mass of real-time data provided in future wireless networks, this thesis introduces an adaptive bandwidth stealing mechanism based on deficit fair priority queue algorithm for uplink bandwidth allocation scheduler, to bring up an uplink bandwidth allocation strategy during high priority service data burst period. It is shown that the QoS in delay can be guaranteed through a linear stealing of tokens in real time, and the throughput of delay-sensitive services can be increased without significantly influencing the whole fairness of various wireless services.Pricing mechanism in microeconomics is introduced to bandwidth allocation strategy for wireless network in order to effectively maintain the whole system benefit and the fairness for actual QoS of different services. For example, the relationship between the SS required QoS and BS allocated QoS may be translated to the user satisfaction level in pricing. This thesis analyses the influences of deficit fair priority queue and pricing on uplink bandwidth allocation mechanism, and designs a system level function to evaluate the capability of multi-service wireless network for performance optimization. It has been shown that the whole QoS in MAC layer of wireless network can be enhanced by adopting both an adaptive deficit fair priority queue algorithm and pricing mechanism in uplink bandwidth allocation, which also enables us to evaluate the system level QoS in diverse ways.
