As the networks is developing in step and the scope increasing continually, the need for fault diagnosis of the networks become more and more important .Because the traditional architecture of networks management has some innate disadvantages, for example, in the centralized architecture, the center management station will be fault and its net traffic will overload and so on. In the hierarchical architecture, we will have the difficult of management configuration and if the leader of a region becomes fault, we will lose the management information of the region, there are exigent need for creating new architecture in network management to overcome the disadvantages of traditional architecture and hierarchical architecture. Because of the particularity of distributed computing, the distributed architecture becomes a new choice of network management.The relational knowledge of network management is introduced first in this thesis. The disadvantages of traditional architecture are analyzed and a new approach called distributed architecture. The ADSD algorithm is choose to implement in our prototype system. The history of this algorithm is introduced and the theory basis of this algorithm is also analyzed. At last, the specification of this algorithm is also presented in detail.The following is the main point of this thesis. To prove the correctness of our algorithm's implements and the feasibility of bring distributed fault diagnosis in net management, we choose ns to perform the simulation. We present our approach to simulate ADSD algorithm in ns and according to our algorithm's stimulant results, we talk about the diagnosis latency and net traffic of the ADSD. The results of the simulation, which is in different situation, also are presented. Through our stimulant results, we conclude that the ADSD algorithm can diagnosis the fault event of network and the diagnosis latency is short, the net traffic bring by ADSD become stable quickly. There is little effect on common net application. The distributed architecture for the net management is feasible.At last, according to the implements which are simulated in ns, we make use of net-snmp to implement a system prototype. In this chapter, the details of the system prototype are present. Trough the result of the system prototype, we confirm that the implement of ADSD is correct and the distributed architecture for the net management is feasible.Through our study, we conclude that the distributed architecture for the net management is feasible. We hope that our study can make some basic benefit to the net management.
