Nowadays, with the more and more development of broadband access market in China, DSL access is not only used to provide the high-speed connection for surfing on the web, but also to provide all kinds of valued services based on current twisted-pair copper lines, including of broadcast TV, VOD, high definition TV, voice, game, remote work and other advanced inter-communication between users, such as IP voice and Video Telephone. Intelligent multi-service broadband access platform carried on broadband services has been improved accordingly due to updated service demand.This paper gives brief introductions of the history of ADSL, ATM based DSLAM system and its main services. In order to meet the Ethernet uplink DSLAM requirement, an implementation of a module base on IP technology in ATM based DSLAM is given in this paper. My research focus on hardware architecture.The main creativity is reusing Universal Access System's (UAS)Ethernet to ATM forwarding idea and give some performance improvement idea, The forwarding performance improved from 5M to 100M vs UAS in development phase.In system architecture,My creativity is creating Cross-connect and Resident bridge mode in DSL system by adapt traditional VLAN and network Bridge technology. By this IP over ATM method, the design of DHCP RELAY in IP module is also presented in this paper. Especially for China Telecom's security management reqirement,Author Add DHCP option82 to track vicious user.Since the performance and bandwidth limitation of ATM based DSLAM, This paper also shows the advanced high performance IPDSLAM system and Triple play service.Our Research depend on key Alcatel Shanghai Bell project ATM based IPDSLAM (FENT) and IP based IPDSLAM (ISAM), mainly focuse on IPDSLAM system architecture and application development.
