Parallel processing has greatly attracted the attention of the geologists in the petroleum enterprises worldwide. How to transplant serial processing modules to pc-cluster, has become a very important issue of seismic data processing. Recently parallel processing technology has been widely applied in geophysics. Taking seismic data for its research object, the main content and innovative points of this paper can be outlined as the following aspects: designing a parallel processing framework of multi-platform compatibility, adopting parallel algorithm to convert seismic data, and proposing a gather table generation algorithm.First, Seismic data process, with its complexity, diversity and long periodicity, has many restrictions to the users. Considering these features, this paper refers to and assimilates the merits of other similar serial and parallel seismic data processing framework, then design a computer-based cluster system of seismic data parallel processing framework, and has successfully has successfully developed a large scale seismic data parallel processing system software. Application research shows that the parallel processing framework can improve the efficiency of oil and gas exploration and processing flexibility.Then, this paper further analyses the seismic data storage SEGY (the Society of Exploration Geophysicists)format and a network common data NetCDF(Network Common Data Format) storage format, takes the advantage of the characteristics and parallel NetCDF library, and proposes a parallel file format conversion SEGY to NetCDF format. The experimental results show that the parallel algorithm has a very high speedup and more scalability, which greatly facilitates and speed up the seismic data processing by the staff.Finally,this paper briefly introduces seismic data gather, proposes a gather table generation algorithm, and applies it to the parallel volume rendering algorithm. The experiments show that this method can quickly generate gather table and preserve the information of seismic gather table, so read the same for the next gather other traces to reduce the computing time, there it can reduce the calculating time when reading the other traces of the same gather next time.
