As Jinan communication market increasing demand to broadband service, that utilizing sufficiently existing copper resource with ADSL broadband access method are becoming to a main mean of technical solution. That the increasing broadband users and access service application put forward new requirement on bandwidth utilization and networks reliability, especially explore the new research in access networks carrying technology. Hereupon, how to choose ADSL carrying networks plays an dramaticly important role inbroadband service development for the future.According to the case analysis of Jinan broadband and new service demand, the paper demonstrates RPR (Resilient Packet Ring) technology and its network structuring feature, as well as RPR advantage in carrying the current ADSL access networks. Comparing to other using technology in networks access layer, RPR shows their unique technical feature and advantage of networks construction. We are considering to optimize carrying networks with RPR. Based on the current situation of broadband service development and networks construction in Jinan Netcom, The paper firstly proposes the networks construction requirement after investigating Jinan data service demand and developing trend. Secondly, the paper demonstrates RPR technology position in metro networks to solve the existing issues, then proposes a general tentative plan on metro networks development and design. As the service requirement in Eastern Jinan, Jinan Netcom implemented ADSL partial networks optimization with RPR technology, including the demand analysis and working out networks construction plan in the proposal. Finally, through testing the RPR trial networks in Jinan Netcom, RPR is verified to provide feature of effective bandwidth utilization, safety and stability, making ADSL networks optimized as well. Moreover, RPR networks support diversified service, such as SLA Ethernet lease line, IPTV service and carrying NGN service, etc.The paper makes a conclusion of the networks construction in practice and proposal implementing result in the end. The paper also reveals the construction layout of Jinan Netcom utilizing RPR in metro networks, as well as RPR technology developing trends and application trend.
