In 1983, Professor Howard Gardner put forward the theory of Multiple Intelligences, which has evoked a strong response from educators in the United States and many other countries in the world, and has been widely praised. In recent years, the theory of Multiple Intelligences has aroused great concern nationwide in the circle of education in china, because it shows a powerful theoretical vitality, provides a theoretical support for the current implementation of quality education, and broadens the vision of implementing quality education. At present, the teaching theory of Multiple Intelligence is highly acclaimed by former Vice- Premier Li Lanqing and some eminent educators, namely Tao Xiping, Gu Mingyuan and etc., and has been ratified by Ministry of Education as one of the important guiding principles for the curriculum reform.Based on an abundant literature review and a sufficient investigation, this paper discusses the application research and practice of the Multiple Intelligences Theory in teaching of Computer Cultural Foundation in University by analyzing some specific courses in the light of theory of Multiple Intelligences. It advocates that students'preponderant intelligences should be considered as a breakthrough, and that to let them learn the same knowledge through various breakthrough points, in that way their interest of learning computer science is stimulated and their other aspects of the intelligences are promoted. Meanwhile, in accordance with the feature of computer teaching and the idea of Electronic Performance Support System, a learning platform of Computer Cultural Foundation course has been developed. The Program is implemented in the class of 2006 first-year university students majored in Law in the College of Arts and Science of Sichuan Normal University, which explores the application of Multiple Intelligences Theory in teaching of Computer Cultural Foundation in University in theory and practice.The research mainly includes:The First Chapter introduces the background and significance of this paper under the current status quo of educational reform, and the primary research and the main results.The Second Chapter first discusses the object and the method of this study,and then focuses on the designing of curriculum of Computer Cultural Foundation and some teaching cases, and on developing a learning platform of Computer Cultural Foundation course by applying the concept of Electronic Performance Support System.Chapter Three puts forward the specific programs to practice the Computer Cultural Foundation curriculum, and carries it out in the class of 2006 first-year university students of Law in the College of Arts and Science of Sichuan Normal University, from which an explanation on the relevant issues and controls has been provided. After comparatively analyzing and multi-evaluating the differences of process and results between the preliminary and later investigation, a conclusion about the related practice is made in this Chapter.Chapter Four diversified evaluate the students and system of teaching process to be further improved teaching.The last Chapter summarizes the above discussion and outlooks the next stage of the research concerned.
