Internet Content Control Studies

The Internet has been acknowledged as one of the most prevailing media. It is still strongly upbeat and evolving even faster than ever. More and more new forms of Internet communication is emerging and growing. How to ensure its healthy development and reduce its negative effects to the society in the meantime is becoming a significant topic in Internet communication studies. The Internet is a complicated communication channel, though, almost all forms of Internet communication can be embodied through Internet content and transmitted to the masses. And the direct sources of Internet content are mainly websites and Internet users. In view of this, the author evaluated the functions of websites and Internet users in Internet communication respectively and clarified their relationships as the first step of the research, then discussed Internet content control from both macro and micro aspects. The topic was put under the frame of social control theories and explained with communication theories. The author made it clear that how traditional communication theory needed modification when used upon the Internet. Moreover, some new control phenomenon was discovered and explained in theories of other fields.
