Possessing the strong ability of anti-jamming, anti-fading, anti-interception as well as the application of multiple access, Frequency Hopping (FH) communication not only has been widely applied in the military communication, with the purpose of ensuring the army to build reliable communication under adverse electromagnetic surroundings, but also has been widely applied in civilian mobile communication. Synchronization is one of the key technologies of FH communication, and by which the FH system can transmit information accurately at high-speed. Synchronization is ordinarily accomplished in two stages: FH acquisition (coarse synchronization) phase and FH tracking (fine synchronization) phase. FH acquisition is researched in this thesis.Based on the summaries of the research and development trends of FH communication, the thesis described the concepts of FH sequence, the synchronization of FH, and the theory of FH communication systems. FH communication synchronization technology is investigated in detail, especially the FH acquisition technology. Then, serial search acquisition technology, parallel search acquisition technology and waiting search acquisition technology are simulated in AWGN channel, and the simulation results are analyzed. In this thesis, the current research situation and development trends of FH communication, the concept and classification of FH sequences and the current research situation of FH synchronization are summarized in the first chapter. The theories of FH communication and FH synchronization are analyzed in the second chapter, together with the constructions of FH sequences and FH synchronization. In the third chapter, the construction methods of several FH sequences are discussed in detail along with the performance analysis. The algorithms of serial search acquisition, parallel search acquisition and waiting search acquisition are analyzed in depth as well as the performance analysis in the fourth chapter. In the fifth chapter, the simulations of three algorithms described above are implemented by MATLAB, and the simulation results are analyzed and compared. In the end, the conclusions of this thesis are drawn and the future directions of research are discussed.
