With customs' increasingly high requirements on the quality of products, some long-used equipment in manufacture can not meet the demand of production. This research is on the technical improvement of the stretch of products, which results from the unsteady speed-controlling system of the APEX150 extruder production line.Firstly, a detailed introduction of the equipment's makeup, control and operation is presented. Then, the main reason for the stretch of products is explained, which lies in the fact that the speed between the cooling system and the winding-up system is only controlled by Hi-Lo electrical switch. Therefore, the change of speed may be great within a short time. For different products, the highest changing rate of speed could reach 40%, but the required changing rate of speed by the manufacture department should not be higher than 10%.Secondly, a few typical types of tension winding -up devices are deeply discussed. According to the specific conditions of this equipment, it is determined that the driven-by-center jumping-roller position tension winding-up device is the most appropriate option. In addition, based on the requirements of the precision and quality by the manufacture department on the equipment, the new controller and the sensor are selected.Finally, since Hi-Lo electrical switch can not limit the changing rate of speed lower than 10%, PI controller is chosen to do the real-time and fast test on the controlling-object. However, because the size, spec of the winding-up products keep changing, simple PI controller can not be suitable for all types, and it is hard to define the controlling parameters of tension control in traditional PI controller. Based on the traditional PI adjusting, the self-adjusting of PI parameter of the new type of controller is realized through fuzzy reasoning, according to the warp and the changing rate of warp. Thus the system could both have the robustness from fuzzy control and nice steady precision from PI control.With the application of fuzzy self-adjusting PI controller to winding-up tension control system of the APEX150 extruder production line in past two months, some problems, which result from the changes of speed and the product spec, such as wrong breadth and wrong weight were largely reduced. The quality of winding-up was dramatically improved. The changing rate of speed of all products decreased to less than 10%. It is proved by experimental research and engineering routine that the controlling characteristics of system has been considerably improved by applying fuzzy self-adjusting of parameters to the traditional PI controller. And therefore it would have great promise in winding-up tension-control system.
