| With the rapid development of wireless networks and the mobile terminals, hand-on devices have changed greatly compared before. This can be reflected in the hardware, for example, the screen becomes larger and larger, the colors become increasingly rich, the processors are more and more powerful, and the storage space becomes larger and larger. At the same time, lots of software applications have emerged, such as entertainment software, games, multimedia software, business applications, financial applications, and so on. Thereinto video Codec application has become a hot.H.264 is the latest ITU-T standard of video coding. It adoptes mature technologies, provides higher codec efficiency and video quality. So it has even broader prospects, compared with other standards of video coding. Now H.264 is being widely used in various video related fields. Though the performance of mobile devices has improved greatly, they still can not be mentioned in the same breath. So the video decoding applications on mobile terminals must give a full consideration the restrictions on mobile terminals and wireless networks.Because of the superior performance of H.264, it becomes the first choice when processing video coding/decoding on mobile platform. The main work includes:1.H.264 algorithm code porting from Windows platform to Symbian platform.2.developing the media player3.an optimization solution on the smartphone based on Symbian has been presented. The techniques adopted here include the optimization for pipelining, register, memory, etc. This paper describes the history of Symbian OS, compares it with other current mainstream embeded operating symbian, presents the critical technologies in video decoding development on mobile terminals, presents an optimization solution on the smartphone based on Symbian, and at last, gives the test result and it has shown that it meets basic needs of the real-time nature of the mobile equipment. |
