| From the beginning of the 20th century, the communication power of USA has grown tremendously and it gradually monopolizes 80 percents of production and export of media commodity among the whole world. Through the process, the US exports its culture, value, ideology and way of life. What's more, it also strives to realize its political purpose, namely to sow the"seeds of democracy"widespread the world and crack down the so-called"despotism and autarchy". Under such circumstances, hardly any country can stay unaffected and calm. In the 1960s-70s, the developing countries united to struggle for a new information order, which, however, received strong protest from the western countries. The old information order remained the same as unbalanced and abnormal. In the 1990s, with the computer network making the national boundaries more transparent, the communication system of USA is increasingly powerful in the deregionalized age. The situation of developing countries is getting worse. Therefore, studying the origin, development and trend of U.S. communication hegemony as well as the strategies of developing countries appears to be necessary and urgent. This paper is composed of 4 chapters, the first and second of which mainly analyze the close combination of U.S. wish and power to pursue communication hegemony. As the essence of the whole paper, chapter 3 stands on the geopolitical point of view to systematically discuss the conflicts among US and other countries triggered by the U.S. aggressive attempt. There goes the conclusion- the developing countries receive more severe impact than the non-American western countries because of remaining historical influence and their laggard developing status. Chapter 4 raises a series of suggestions which might be valuable to the developing countries when establishing their own communication strategies. |
