The concept of marketing in the modern significance first appeared at the beginning of 20th Century. From then on, both theorists and enterprisers increasingly explore into the marketing theory, which enriches the marketing theory. And in the late 70's of 20th Century, some of the nonprofit organization started to think that they should apply the marketing theory to implementing their objects. In recent years, libraries in China also have been interested in marketing. However, there are only a few libraries that have really been implementing marketing, but it is hopeful there will be an upsurge in the near future.There is close relationship between marketing and the development of library. And marketing is an important force and effective means to the development of library. It is the key problem how to introduce marketing philosophy into the field of library, and how to integrate the marketing management into library. This paper discusses on the construction of library management model based on marketing, which puts forward a new management model for library. It is of great theoretical value and practical meaning to roundly improve the level of library management, and promote the sustainable development of library. Along with the coming of knowledge economy and network economy era, the model of library management is not suitable nowadays. By analyzing library management philosophy, transformation of functions, management mechanism and the method of management to find the merits and shortcomings of the management model in being, and combined with the characteristics of the current information service, this article puts forward a new model of library management, which is making for the innovation of the theory and practice of library management.The article is divided into five chapters, makes a brief introduction to the related theories about library marketing, discusses the related theoretic and practical problems systematically around the main issues such as how to grasp the meaning and the characteristics of the model of library management based on marketing, why and how to build the model of library management based on marketing. Thereby library can really and truly have the consciousness of user first, cost and innovation, and keep step with market economy, knowledge economy and network economy, and adapt to the need of the development of library in the future.
