Active magnetic bearing (AMB) is a new type of high performance bearing which suspends the rotor in a contact-free manner. Research on this system involved in electromagnetism, auto control theory, mechanical design, rotor dynamics, digital signal process and computer science. In this paper, the author works on the study and design of AMB control system, the main woks are as follows:First, a single freedom mathematics model and the four degree freedom state equation of AMB are founded based on the analyzing the construction and the principle of AMB. Then, the key components of AMB system are told in details. Also the digital control system of AMB centered on TMS320LF2407A have been designed and optimized. In addition, an independent monitor system through PC has been set up which is helpful to manage the running state of AMB system in time.And third, aimed of real time control and system expandable, the embedded real time operation systemμC/OS-II has been brought in. The source code was immigrated to TMS320LF2407A and software frameworks have been finished in the paper.Finally, a suspension experiment of AMB which used nonlinear PID algorithm was executed. The feasibility of this system was validated by sampling and analyzing experiment data which has been the solid foundation for further research.
