Dalian Jiaotong University has achieved the accomplishment—aluminium cladding steel wire production technique in 2000. It fills domestic gaps in this field, and makes our country become the second one that can provides the technique and the equipment that produces aluminium cladding steel wire. However, there is still great space where we can make its automation more advanced. For example, there are several persons to accomplish the pay-off and take-up task usually. The production line cannot integrate the control of the pay-off and take-up operation.Under the background of SLJB350 aluminium cladding steel wire continuous extrusion and cladding production line, in order to improve its automation level further, the pay-off and take-up control system is especially investigated. Also, the system is proved to be nonlinear and time-variable. Based on Fuzzy self-ajusting PID control a tension control strategy is given. The simulation results show that it is able to bring about tension control.The main work is as following:(1) At first the cause of tension is explained, and take mathematic argument for curling process. From the kinemic analysis of take-up part, the basis of take-up movement is found.(2) Pay-off DC motor is controlled by 590+ speed controller; pulling AC motor and mainshaft AC motor are controlled by MM440 converter; take-up control is achieved by AC motor; all control is based on S7-200PLC.(3) The fuzzy laws are established according to data from experts, and output signals of swing arm act as input quantity of Fuzzy self-ajusting PID controller made from S7-200PLC.(4) Considering the technological and control requirements, the hardware configures and software environment are stress explained in the computer control system, and the control program is developed with software STEP7 .(5) Fuzzy self-ajusting PID algorithm is simulated in the MATLAB system, and the results show that the control system can get better effect.The research results in the paper are of great use for the control of the pay-off and take-up part, and the Fuzzy self-ajusting PID control strategy can be used in aluminium cladding steel wire production line. It is valuable to improve the automation level in continuous extrusion and cladding field.
