The Design And Realization Of Media Gateway In NGN

Although the traditional Public Switched Telephone Network based on Time Division Multiplexing can provide the service at the rate of 64kb/s, its services and control must be completed by switcher. Although the technology may ensure good voice quality, its offer to new service need much longer period and cannot deal with increasing market. Compared with voice telecommunication, IP network communication is increasing incrediblly,whose bandwidth is increasing more rapid than voice communication.Advancing voice service over IP network may also reduce cost.At the same time,data service over IP network is advancing much more rapidly than voice service.As a result,the Public Switched Telephone.Network must be integrated into package data network ,which come into being the next generation network(NGN).But because of some reasons,there is no very good Softswitch in business field,which urge us research into how we have existing telecom network transform into Softswitch network.The media gateway is refer to the equipment which provide the media mapping and the code conversion function in the possible different network, transfer the data from form needed in one kind of network to the form needed in another kind of network. In the related standard, the media gateway is defined for transTab.ming media in one kind of network for media form which another kind of network needs.Such as, the Media Gateway transfer between the carried channel of circuit switching network and the stream of media in packet network, may process the audio, the video or T.120 (the international standard of multimedia data conference), simultaneously also has ability to process them combined arbitrarily, and can carry on full-duplex media translation, may demonstrate the video /audio message,achieve other interaction sound reply function, meanwhile can carry on the media conference and so on.This article introduce the next generation network and the core(soft exchange) of the call and the control, proposed a solution of transTab.ating the application equipment presently into the next generation network.By using the Media Gateway, We have solved transTab.ation from Public Switched Telephone Network to the Next Generation Network in low cost, enormously protected existing investment.Then we elaborate the media gateway control protocol procedure of the Residencion Media Gateway in this plan detaily.Finally, this article elaborated disposition method and the test procedure of the Media Gateway in this transition plan. We has obtained user's approval by test actually, achieved anticipated goal.
