In the coming wireless broadband communication system, there are two flinty challenges: multiple path fading channel and low spectrum efficiency. The technology of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing can convert the frequency selective multi-path fading channels to flat channels in frequency domain, and release the effect of multi-path fading. The technology of Multiple Input Multiple Output can transit some data streams simultaneously by mutual non-correlative parallel wireless channels and increase the throughout of wireless broadband communication system efficiently, that is to say, it can manifold the spectrum efficiency without increasing the system band. So higher spectrum efficiency and stronger transmission can be available by merging the technology of OFDM and MIMO.At first the thesis introduces the development situation of wireless communication nowadays and some new promising technology, describes the fundament of MIMO technology, and gives a detailed presentation of some simple but practical technology about transmit diversity and receive diversity, does some theory simulation based on them, compares it with traditional technology of no diversity.A transceiver based on MIMO system is a multiple channel radio frequency (RF) one from the point of RF hardware structure. Some key parameters, such as transmit power, noise figure, receive sensitivity, are discussed in the paper. It also shows the corresponding method how to calculate the parameters and analyzes how they affect the wireless communication system. Then it emphasizes the work principle, composing structure, work flow, realization method and write up the design schemes of significant components, like the power amplifier, up/down convert mixer, low noise amplifier,TDD duplexer. The problems met in debugging transceivers are analyzed theoretically and the solutions are given.Finally, testing results about transceivers are analyzed briefly. The comparison and reason between the simulation of key specifications and the testing result is done. Some useful suggestions about design of future RF transceivers are presented.
