| SCDMA technology is a local wireless access network technology and its intellectual property right is completely owned by Datang Telecom. At present, China Netcom has established SCDMA network in many cities. Since the SCDMA patent is not open to the public yet, no other companies except Datang begin to make research and development. Now there are more than 10 million subscribers in SCDMA network. However, with the increasing number of subscribers, subscribers put forward more requirements on this local wireless access network, i.e. a mobile network which consists of multiple local networks with roaming function. After system upgrade, Datang has enabled the core switch to realize the connection of multiple local networks in the existing SCDMA network of China Netcom. But its subsystem—SMC (short message center) cannot support this function. Therefore, it is necessary to upgrade SMC to completely realize the connection of multiple local networks in the whole SCDMA network. This is the aim of this paper. In this paper, first the structure of the existing SMC system is described and detailed analysis is made on the request of multiple local networks. Then systematic design is made on SMC system for multiple local networks. Emphasis is put on the upgrade of signaling adaptation protocol and SMCID management and detailed solution is given on the job that the author is responsible for. Finally the processes of some service processing programs and the final software interface are put forward, as well as the solution of live upgrade. Because the functions of the existing SMC system has already met the requirements of subscribers, the paper only focuses on the multiple local networks and the upgrade of SCDMA short message point-to-point protocol, and there is no change on the system performance and subscriber functions. The new SMC system in SCDMA core network has incomparable advantages: the signaling exchange can be borne on either IP network or No.7 signaling network; it is scalable and easy for large scale networking to meet subscribers' requirement of short message roaming. Meanwhile, this design of SMC multiple local networks can also lay a technical foundation for future networking of the entire SCDMA core network. With the network development, the next research shall be oriented at two aspects: first, if the policy is permitted, SCDMA can be upgraded to a standard mobile network. Second, a standard and high efficient SMC interface will be developed at the short message application market and data short message will be supported. |
