| Recently, with the quick development of the technique of Communication, Computer Science, and Micro-electronics, the technique and performance of video coding and transferring have been improved greatly. So, communicating by video is highly possible. And video conference system, for its low cost, high efficiency and the ability to provide video and audio to people in different places, is promising in being a major operation of next generation net(NGN).Here, the thesis combines the task"Instant Message System". Based on studying the arithmetic of video coding, it introduces the development of video coding, comparing different coding standards, and mainly discussing H.264, the most advanced coding at present.Here, the thesis introduces the concept of software video conference based on Internet. By using software video conference, Users from different places can get together。The video conference can be used to communicate with others in form of video and audio, support people share files, and so on. It frees people from traveling far away, improves work efficiency, and saves money.Meanwhile, discussing the theory, basic arithmetic of video coding, and characters of video coding standards, especially H.264.In H.264 standard, many techniques have been utilized to raise the compression ratio, such as the slice design, inter prediction, integer DCT transform and motion estimation. The performance of packet loss resilience and error resilience of H.264 overlap former video coding standards. The techniques are described. And because of the high computational complexity of H.264, the rate of frames is too low to meet the minimal requirement of video meeting.We propose a fast mode decision algorithm to improve the decoding rate of H.264.Simulation results show that it is effective. Some future applications of H.264 are analyzed in the last part of the paper. |
