Along with the rapid development of network technology and the continuous upgrade of application of enterprise network, the network designer faces following key problems: how to create the network model efficiently, how to design a new network application protocol, and how to improve performance of network model by modified the existing one, etc. It is significant that makes use of the OPNET Modeler to create a network model and simulation it, make the further analysis, evaluation network and testing, improve network communication protocol, and optimize the performance of network communication in guiding to construct the network system with good performance.In recent years, the domestic economy and the industrialization process get a quick development. The safe production is an important link that has to consider in any enterprise production, the fire alarm can provide an important guarantee for the enterprise safety. Along with the gradual forming of the network system, fire monitoring and commanding center of the enterprise and all factory areas can constitute a network system. when the fire break out, fire monitoring and commanding center can receive fire information from the region class system in time, and give the corresponding program, thus construct a safe fire alarm network system .This topic comes from the project of fire alarm network system of some Iron and steel company. The region class fire alarm systems produced by different manufacturer have been already applied in practice. Each unit region used different type equipment and each unit region designed its own network communication protocol. Fire alarm network system is monitoring and dealing with the whole fire events of the network system of the enterprise, therefore, we must rely on the common protocol conversion gateway to coordinate the various unit regional network communication protocols to achieve the sharing of entire network alarm information. In order to construct the fire alarm system with good performance and study on the feasibility of system development, testing performance of protocol conversion gateway and peak flow of communication network and providing help to developer are needed. This paper use OPNET Modeler to design a model of fire alarm system, run the model by simulating diversified instances in practice and collect the stimulant results. It finally evaluate performance of network communication and study feasibility of fire alarm system by analyzing simulated results, this simulation method making use of simulation technique has references for the development and implement of fire alarm network system.
