Model management research has become hotpoint of decision support system because of its importance and it is a critical part to decide a DSS whether or not to be successful and pratical. Model Management system can support decision-makers to understand complex practical problems in a flexible and practical way. It is of great significance to use an appropriate model to enhance works of decision-makers.With the rapid development of Internet and economic, faced by the managers of the decision-making and complex environment, the traditional DSS has been unable to meet the changing environment and practical applications. Web services bring new ideas and innovative technologies to become a very good platform for distributed application to support realizing decision-making models on the Internet, which provides a good solution to the current DSS Model Management System development for many problems encountered. Web service technology will be introduced to model management system research areas, not only has it a very important theoretical research value, but also it has broad application prospects in many areas.Firstly, some problems in model management researches are proposed based on reviews of model management systems, development of Web services, Web services composition, registration, search technologies and studies and development status or relevant areas.Secondly, a model management system framework based on a distributed structure is proposed to solve the above mentioned problems. The core idea of MMS is the share and cooperation of decision resources is proposed, a basic architecture of MMS and the decision-making workflow of MMS is put forward, and the characters of MMS has been discussed. This architecture can give a clear whole perspective of MMS.A framework is designed to solve model registration and discovery in a UDDI Registry. Based on the current UDDI data model, this architecture uses an external database to support service registration and discovery based on service properties, service relationships and service constrains, to reduce the returned models so as to increase the saticfaction and accuracy of service discovery and meet all kinds of requirements of applications.An MMS based on above approaches and technologies has already been implemented and applied to a practical DSS design. Models registration, models discovery, and models composition are applied. This application has shown its reasonability, validity and technical feasibility of the theory and methods of MMS base on Web Services.
